Casale and its surrounding area Monferrato
We are sure that Casale will enchant you in no time at all and you will soon feel at home while wandering around its ancient streets, discovering its  characteristic corners. We “casalesi” are very proud of our city and its surrounding hills; we like to walk through its elegant streets sitting with a friend at one of its many bars on ìn a “piazza” while drinking coffee, drinking a glass of good local wine accompanied by the famous biscuits “krumiri".

The famous biscuits of Casale

From Casale in less than an hour you can easily get to Turin, Milan and Genoa, because we are at the centre of an imaginary triangle formed by three of the main italian cities which are a “must” for shopping, fashion, art and technology, all easily reachable...

Without going very far you can visit both small cities like Valenza, very important for its jewelery and goldsmiths and precious stones, or Vercelli, surrounded by rice fields, or Asti, Alessandria, etc..

.... And our wine (we are at the foot of the Monferrato hills, a well known area for its typical wines....)... Wine is certainly the first word that Italians instinctively associate to Monferrato as the coltivation of vine dates back to roman times and the quality of its products are known worldwide. The second one is “Tartufo” (white truffle) one of nature’s autumn gifts, with its intense aroma and unique flavour.

The city has organised a number of bicycle pick up points to promote its use as a means of transport in the city centre because it’s simple, ecological and quiet, perfect for moving around town and helps in lowering the levels of acustic and atmospheric polution.
The history of our city is rich with historic events which led to the building of castles, churches, palaces and sanctuaries, as a testimony to its past glories and to the pride of the people. Casale, the capital of Monferrato, is a mix of buildings of different ages: Romanic, Gothic, Rennaisance, Barocche and Neoclassical.

Castles, towers and medieval homes are a characteristic of the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero: jewels scattered on the earth of a land rich of history and art. Buildings famous not only for their age and history but also for their wines. Many of them have been restructured and now are wine cellars, where you can find a collection of regional wines.
The vitality of a territory is measured by the number and variety of occasions it offers to people to meet and enjoy themselves; in this sense the Monferrato casalese is a very alive place as there are many events, feasts and fairs that give a solid but articulate identity to the area. Each village over the years has tended to specialize around a particular theme, (Dance, modern art, truffles, jazz, classical music and so forth, all accompanied with wine). You can look for the monthly events or choose the period most interesting for you.
